Shaun Marsh, an Australian cricketer, was born on July 9, 1983 in Narrogin. Geoff Marsh, his father, was a Test cricketer and Mitch Marsh, his younger brother, is a blossoming cricketer, who has signed with Western Warriors for the 2008-09 season. Nicknamed “Son of Swampy”, Shaun Marsh plays as a left-handed batsman and bowls slow left-arm orthodox style.
Shaun Marsh was a part of the Under-19 Australia squad that won the 2002 U-19 World Cup, which was held in New Zealand, and he finished the tournament as the fourth highest run scorer. He is an Australia A representative and has played 45 List A matches, scoring 1471 runs, his highest being 103. He played his first One Day International (ODI) match against the West Indies on June 24, 2008 and has played eight ODIs, scoring 333 runs, his highest being 85*. Shaun Marsh played his first Twenty20 International (T20I) match against the West Indies on June 20, 2008, in Bridgetown.
Shaun Marsh made his First-class debut by representing Western Warriors in a match against South Africa in Perth during the 2000-01 season, following which, he scored his first First-class century against New South Wales in 2003. He won the Lawrie Sawle medal for his best performances with the Western Australian state cricket team for the 2007-08 season. He has played 47 First-class matches, scoring 2588 runs, his highest being an unbeaten 166. On January 6, 2006, Shaun Marsh made his Twenty20 (T20) debut in a match against Victoria, in Perth and has featured in 23 T20 matches scoring 1015 runs, his highest being 115 against Rajasthan Royals.
